Do you know how tempted I am to just go down to the Greyhound station, get on a bus, and go someplace completely random?

Do it! Have an adventure. ^_^ The nice thing about home is that you can always come back to it.

I fight that urge every other day. The Delano Greyhound bus probably would take me to Mexico.

I fully endorse this idea.

Yeah, but I'm too old now. I'll just look like a crazed drifter.

What's the problem with that?

apparently someone's 2 kids traveled, one by bus, one by train, according to the bus one: "The people who were the fellow passengers were scuzzy, inconsiderate, noisy, etc."

so if the drifter look is what he's afraid of, he'd fit right in!!

What a way to find your life's calling; dirty, disheveled, and packed into a poorly-ventilated bus with other people just as abrasive as you are. For days at a time.

Go, Mojo! The time is now! Embrace your tribe! Find your people! Grow things in your hair! Pass gas in public and laugh in the face of polite customs! Collect the uncomfortable titterings of the timid travelers and the weekend wanderers, and weave them into your legacy, your legend. This is your chance, Mojo. Your chance to be... That Guy.

That.
Free.
Guy.

How tempted are you?

Don't go to Random, though then I'll have to wire you money... to um... Random, and I'm not sure Random has a place to get wired money.

tell me about it.

you can get a 2-month greyhound pass for $750. better than 2-months' rent. Pretty sure this includes travel to Mexico and Canada (have your passport ready).

it takes 3 days to travel from coast to coast.

(less than that it's kind of a rip-- 30 days = $607, 15 days = $483, 7 days = $329)

So for two months you can take greyhound wherever you want? That'd be semi-sweet, actually.

yeah...

here's the url where I found the prices.

http://www.discoverypass.com/

I'd call the greyhound people and make sure it's legit before submitting credit card info on the website.

Last summer, when I had travel fever and I was obsessing over this, amtrak was way more expensive, and didn't offer these passes to us citizens (!!!)... but it doesn't look so bad now.

here's the url.

Amtrak is offering a 30-day rail pass for $709.

Or, if you just want CA, $159 for 7 days of travel in 2 weeks.

I can't recommend the Greyhound for long distances.

The train is lovely, though.

Who knows, you might meet your evil twin!
